Pr. Dr. Zoubeir LAFHAJ

Prof. Zoubeir LAFHAJ, Ph.D. in Civil Engineering, is a University Professor at Centrale Lille, an elected member of the Board of Directors of the Institut Centrale Lille since 2019, and former Dean of International Relations from 2008 to 2015.

Researcher at the LaMcube Research Center, UMR CNRS 9013, in the "Thermo-hydro-mechanical and chemical coupling" team, he leads a team of five Ph.D. students and three post-docs. His research focuses on the industrialization of construction, industry 4.0, 3D printing in construction, the implementation of Lean construction, the supply chain, information technology in construction, and connected construction sites. His research interests include polluted sediments and their characterization, materials with thermal problems, and buildings in the strategic energy context (positive sustainable housing and construction).

Prof. LAFHAJ has built a strong network with both small and large companies to share technologies and knowledge as part of research and development projects and clusters. He has obtained two labels from the French Ministries (Industry, Economy, and Employability for two projects. At the moment, he holds an industrial research chair with the Bouygues Construction Group. This group comes up with new ways to build things that are planned. The chair started in 2017 and aims to address the academic and professional worlds via Ph.D. theses, post-doctoral projects, courses, new master programs, apprenticeships, and training for students and professionals, with collaborations with leading universities in the fields of construction and engineering in Europe.
